Remembering Iain Cooper – A Day of Football, Fundraising and Friendship

This week marked the second anniversary of our much-loved colleague and friend, Iain Cooper. In honour of his memory, EDS once again came together for our annual football competition – an event that has quickly become a fixture in our calendar.

This year, the competition grew so much in popularity that we moved to a five-a-side format to accommodate everyone who wanted to take part. We were especially pleased to welcome Iain’s wife, Alison, and their son, Will, who kindly presented the trophy to the winning team.

The day didn’t end on the pitch. Afterwards, the celebrations continued at Caerphilly Golf Club with an evening of singing, fundraising and heartfelt stories of Iain’s life. Thanks to the generosity of all involved – including players, supporters, and raffle sponsors – funds were raised for Basics Devon, the pre-hospital emergency care charity, enabling them to purchase another defibrillator.

Managing Director, Paul Edwards, reflected: “Iain made a huge impact on everyone here at EDS, both personally and professionally. To see so many colleagues, friends and family come together in his memory is a reminder of how deeply he is missed, but also of the lasting legacy he has left behind.

“This event has grown into something truly special – not only as a celebration of Iain’s life, but also as a way to support causes that save lives. We’re already looking forward to building on its success next year.”

A big thank you goes to Charlie Hamer for helping bring the teams together, to our sponsors for their generous support, and to everyone who took part in making the day such a success. It was a wonderful way to remember Iain and to celebrate the bonds of friendship and teamwork that were so important to him.
