Comprehensive Survey Works Completed at Cardiff WwTW Ahead of Major Capital Investment
Edwards Diving Services’ survey team has had a particularly busy few weeks, with one of the standout projects taking place at Cardiff Wastewater Treatment Works for Welsh Water.
The programme of work forms part of the early stages of a significant capital investment project at this critical treatment site. To support future design and planning, the team delivered a coordinated package of CCTV surveys, ground penetrating radar (GPR), topographic surveys and detailed laser scanning.
The resulting outputs provide a clear, joined-up picture of the site as it exists today. This includes accurate measurements and visual records of both underground and overground assets, covering drainage networks, footways and associated infrastructure. This information gives the wider project team the clarity they need to understand constraints on site and confidently develop new designs around existing services.
All survey activities, data processing and reporting were delivered in house, drawing on our long-standing expertise across complex operational environments.
Survey Manager Lee Husk commented: “This was a demanding site with a lot of interfaces to consider, so accuracy and coordination were essential. Our team worked closely across disciplines to make sure the data was consistent, reliable and genuinely useful for the next stage of the project. It’s a great example of what we can deliver when everything is brought together under one roof.”
The project is being led by Knights Brown, whose Design Manager added: “We are all very pleased with the quality of the survey and diligence of the team at Cardiff WwTW over the past few weeks.”
